Tim Eyeman's latest - Initiative 1033

Whether you like Tim Eyeman or not, he has been very successful in tapping into the frustration I think that most of Washington State's populace has with the ever-expanding costs of public spending. I-1033 seems to be a needed solution to cap this spending growth.

Washington voters had put in place similar provisions in the 1990's with I-601 but over time, these provisions have been removed one at a time by those we have elected. In each case, there was likely a good reason to do so, but the net result is that the budget has seen unattainable growth.

It is unfortunate that the initiative process is the only way that we can get those in Olympia to reign in their spending, but if they are not able to do it on their own, then the people should step up and put guidelines in place such as I-1033.

The question if this passes is will those we elected get the message that we want them to stay within their budget or as in the past, will they only keep trying to add new creative ways to get around the limits thinking we really meant that we wanted them to keep spending more money and were asking them to find different sources.

Having felt the need to spout off on occasion about the happenings in our city, county, state and country, I am posting my rants to this blog.
